Bunnies FAQs

1. Are bunnies clean?

Bunnies are clean animals. They constantly clean themselves. However, their parents still need to clean their spaces. Teddywidders are long hair bunnies. They have fine hair and it acts like magnets. Their hair also absorb whatever fragrance, lotions, and body odors from human.

2. Can I bathe my bunny?

We do not recommend bathing your bunny. If your bunny gets a little dirty, we recommend brushing and using wet towels

to remove the dirt. Sunshine Teddywidders will email a list of useful items for you bunnies before they go home so you can

prepare.

3. Do I need 2 bunnies?

We do not recommend getting 2 long hair bunnies at the same time especially for new parents. Please give yourself and

your bunny at least 6 months to adjust to each other before considering another bunny. We only allow 2 bunnies adoption

for experience bunny parents. We will need to see receipts! For new parents, we recommend going through rescue                  organizations to adopt your 2nd bunny. Some rescue organizations provide bonding services and can help you bond your bunnies.

4. Do I need to change my lifestyle?

Yes!!! Your bunny depends on you. If you love going to happy hour after work every day, don't get a bunny. If you love to

travel every month, please consider that a pet sitter is not cheap. You will need to find pet friendly housing and there will be extra costs for you pet housing. Teddywidders LOVE their owners and will look for them even if there are other people in the room.

5. Can I put my bunny outside in a cage?

The answer to this question is always a NO. Our bunnies are meant to be indoor bunnies with outdoor activity. They are long hair bunny and heat is NOT their best friend. In addition, outdoor activity does not mean to be outside for hours at a time. Early morning and dusk are the prefer time to let you bunny out within confinement for an hour or two. Please stay with your bunny if you live in an area where there are a lot of other animals roaming. An enclosed space is better as bunnies can jump really high and escape your open confinement.

6. Can I put my bunny inside in a cage?

We recommend putting your bunny in an enclosure during adjustment period and slowly give your bunny more space. We

prefer KW Cages due to ease of cleaning the cage or something similar. There are training reasons for putting your bunny in a closed cage. For dogs, we call it crate training and that's how we will refer it, crate training. We will give parents further instruction on crate training.

7. Does my bunny likes to be pick up?

Absolutely!! Our bunnies receive hugs and kisses throughout the day. They love attention and will seek it. However,

please be patient during adjustment period. Each bunny is different so we can't give you a time when the bunny will feel

comfortable with you. Sunshine Teddywidders will provide advises during the adjustment period.

8. Do bunnies bites or nips?

Most bunnies do not communicate vocally. Biting or nipping is one way to communicate with their parents. It is a behavior that may be eliminated and we will try to train them to soften the nipping. Parents will need to reinforce bunnies training after they leave Sunshine Teddywidders. Sunshine Teddywidders do not guarantee the bunnies do not bite or nips.

9. Can I take my bunny out to go shopping or restaurants or cafes?

It depends on your bunny. Some bunnies can be exposed to human socialization areas and do well. Some bunnies loves

their homes and consistency. Our suggestion is to give it a try and expose your bunny to outdoor activity in short                      increments and quieter areas.

10. Is Teddywidder hypoallergenic?

Teddywidder is a hypoallergenic. However, they do have hay based diet. Future parents need to figure out themselves before adopting whether or not they are allergic to Timothy Hay or any type of hays. We expose our bunnies to different type of hays (orchard, timothy, alfalfa, and oat). Timothy and orchard are the most common hays to use. Some people are allergic to Timothy hays but not to orchard. Please find out before you decide to enter the waiting list since there will be NO REFUND.

11. What colors are my bunnies?

Sunshine Teddywidders does not describe our bunnies in colors. The bunnies colors are what you see. We specialize in guiding bunnies to be house pet and all colors are beautiful in our eyes.

12. Can I put my bunny on a leash?

Sushine Teddywidders has not found a trust worthy collars to use on bunnies. They can easily get out of their collars. We recommend getting a pet stroller and use that instead.

13. Do I need to groom my bunny daily?

Sunshine Teddywidders will expose them to grooming. When your bunny goes home, he/she will need to be groom once every three days for a couple of months. Then, once a week as they mature. You will have to brush more during molting seasons. Grooming is also a form of bonding. The teddies LOVE grooming. The girls more than the boys. However, please do not over groom your bunny. Nail trimming will be needed between 10 and 14 days or as needed. Hair trimming is parents preference. We like to give our bunnies a shorter hair style during the summer.

14. Is a bunny easier to take care of compare to dogs or cats?

There is no such thing as easy when you have a pet. Some people like to clean their bunnies cages daily and some every couple of days. Some take their bunnies outside daily and some don't. We prefer to let our bunnies outside when it is nice. For our introvert future parents, your bunny will attract attention when you take them out. Prepare for conversation! For our extrovert future parents, enjoy and absorb the attention. Hopefully you will make more friends together with your bunny!

15. How big is a Teddywidder?

Most Teddywidder will grow as long as a small dog. It is not a dwarf breed. It weights ranges between 3 lbs and 6 lbs. However, they look bigger because of their hair. Teddywidder is considered as a small breed. Most small breed bunnies finished growing at 6 months old.
